Swamp (Date Night)

I know I already posted Tuesday but I couldn't help but show this piece. It fit too well with Illustration Fridays word of the week. Basically it's two red eared sliders having a date. With a turtle being my favorite animal I have no idea why it took this long to finally paint one...

A Brief Intermission

Here's two different practice piece's while I finish up some larger projects. The first one was a card for a friend and the second was an attempt with collage and different watercolor techniques.

For next week I would love to know what people would prefer to see. I'm stuck between two things I'm currently working on. It's between my next book idea and my most recent illustration followed by food practice. Let me know what you prefer!

Shades

A unicorn that hides in the shades of tree's to steal girl scout cookies. I tried a finished painting but looks like more confidence is needed in my collage abilities. So for now enjoy the sketch.

Kraft Part 2

I really wanted to post this before Tuesday and stick with my weekly plan of projects. My Tuesday projects are already done so they won't be late this week. For now here's the final for the Kraft Competition. Lot's of things to fix and work on but at least I'm collaging again.

kraft Part 1

I know this post is so late! I really thought this project would be easy and take a day or so and turns out it's the complete opposite. I'm using a new technique to help make my collages more clear and less distracting in my watercolors. So far it's looking good but will see....I'll post the finished piece as soon as I can. For now enjoy my work in progress post.

For those of you who don't know, this is a project I'm entering into TheyDrawAndCook. It's for a Kraft competition. I thought it was important for me to say that any competitions I recommend are trustworthy as far as copyright goes. Even though the competition is for Kraft, Nate and Sally from TheyDrawAndCook are the ones handling your artwork and what happens to it. Even if you don't win art directors skim their site frequently and they try to publish a yearly cook book and calender. Anyone's work is qualified and if someone buys your piece or uses it in an advertisement they will contact you and let you know. For more information look through their site or better yet contact them.

These are my bunnies. They will be collaged and added separately to the bigger painting.

Really bad photo of part of the main project. I still have lots to add to it.

Here's a look at my sketch and thumbnail process. Really messy but helpful. I'm trying to force myself to sketch my illustrations separately instead of going right into the painting.

New Moon Girls

So today I got something very uplifting in the mail. I received ten copies of new moon girl magazine with my first official published piece. Its starting at the bottom but it still brings a smile to my face and hope for the future.

Oh! I know this is out of my Tuesday post schedule but I already have something else planned that I would like to show next week. I'm also too impatient with this story...

Sick

I thought I could get more done but due to my immune system being down for the last week this will have to do. If you ever find yourself having an off week like mine just make something that shows how you feel at the moment. Personally I would feel much healthier if more people joined my blog haha.
