Landscape Practice #1

It's been so long since my last post! I have a lot of illustrations to catch up with and show but they will have to wait do to them being gifts for other people. In the meantime I am practicing landscapes for a project I'll be working on for the next few months. The client wanted an approach of romanticism  so my drawing skills need to become a little better before the final product. My first series of landscapes are rocks/oceans and the next few to look forward to will be forests, caves, meadows, ruins, and castles. The objective is too piece together my favorite drawings in the end to make my own little world. Enjoy!

Elephant

So recently a friend of a friend of mine has opened up a book store is Massachusetts called The Elephants trunk. As a welcome gift for their grand opening a handful of Children Book Illustrators are illustrating elephants and donating their work to an empty wall. This little guy has been a challenge to me. When collaging I usually don't work this large and I have never done anything with elephants. It caused me pages and hours of sketching. I'm sending this little guy out tomorrow since I sadly cant make it to the opening. Hopefully she wont be too lonely on her trip. (Side note, shes a little crooked here because my scanner was too small to fit her but I promise the original is better :)

Just an update that she arrived to the store very happy and in good condition! Hopefully I'll get an update soon on when the article about the store and the art work will be in the Boston Globe.
