2014 Update to Restart

This would have to be the longest ive gone without blogging since college. This year has proved to be challenging in so many ways. Here's a few things I have gone through since January. For one I changed jobs. Im now working full time as a graphic designer. Everyone I work with is pretty amazing and I get to play with repeats and patterns on illustrator all day. I live with my boyfriend now who is not only a great individual but is also a health freak with a diet that is heavenly for all my stomach issues. I also have access to an unlimited amount of band t-shirts (ammmazzinnnggg). Obviously there's been a bit of bumps in the road with sick friends and a few car accidents but ultimately its been a very optimistic year. The worst incident involving my mac book pro and a bottle of water.(Yes I have a new computer!) Coming up I have a wedding in August, October, November and December in which i'm a bridesmaid for two and helping one design invites and a few table items for.

With everything going on I really don't want to loose track of who I am as an illustrator and where I want to go with it. After my class at RISD I came to the conclusion that I need more confidence in my work, not more school. So now i'm back to tuesday blogging to get me back on track. Today is just a few patterns ive been playing around with at work to practice a bit more with my textile skills in illustrator.

Comic Class

For the last few months Ive been taking a class at RISD called writing and drawing comics. Its something fun to get me back into college again. Starting fall I will start taking children's book 1 to push foreword into the children's book program. After taking this class for the short time that I have, I have no idea how I pulled off almost seven classes a week at Pratt. Im exhausted and getting personal work done has been much more of a challenge.  For this class were working on a 8 page comic that's really taking up most of my time. I'm sad to say that I wont show any until the finished pieces are completed to my liking. So for today here's some practice pieces we did. The first one was a group comic and the other was just a homework assignment.

Just Desserts

Wow! Has it been long since I last posted anything! Well that procrastinating craziness will now be over. No matter what weird or crazy things happen within a month I still feel incredibly guilty for not keeping up my blog. Its my strength in pushing towards a better career and without it I tend to get a bit unorganized. So for todays post I thought Id show a card I painted for the cutest most amazing boyfriend ever and A few sketch's to go along with it. Enjoy!

2014 Update

The new year has been anything but simple thus far. Within two months my life has just piled with work and a continuous list of things to get to. On top of my hectic schedule I managed to get tonsillitis which transformed into a throat virus from my lack of rest. Now that im healthy my routines need to start up again. So for the new year I really wanted to make drawing/sketching a daily routine. I plan to have one sketch a day and hopefully post seven a week on my blog. Obviously my work is a bit behind so next week will be a little insane with the amount of sketch's I plan to show. I thought this would be a great way to sneak more art into my busy life and it's a way to get more ideas out on paper and revisit them for future paintings. Things will be much more organized this way and it will help me start the spring semester at RISD off at my best.

And this blog will continue on tuesdays starting next week! Im determined to keep that day!
